Staffing shortages that were plaguing hospitals in the Mountain State and across the nation before the pandemic are now reaching critical levels as COVID-19 fills hospitals to capacity and sidelines staff, exhausts some workers to the point they leave the workforce entirely, and the cost for health-care workers through staffing agencies skyrockets.
