The Health Plan Posts Provider Resources and FAQs to aid Providers

The Health Plan has posted a set of provider FAQs accessible on their secure portal.  To access the document, please login.  THP is working diligently to implement a solution, allowing claims to be processed through the clearinghouse.  This solution is expected to be operational later this week and notification will be sent to all providers once the clearinghouse is ready to accept claims.  They will continue to accept paper claims and issue payment every two weeks for claims received.

Aetna is Working to Set Up Alternative Reimbursement Processes to Change Healthcare

Aetna is working diligently to set up an alternative to Change Healthcare for provider reimbursement of the claims adjudication process.  They are working to transition quickly and will begin claim adjudication and reimbursement under a controlled environment to review quality and accuracy this week.  More information on Aetna’s response can be viewed at this link.

Unicare Provides Bulletin and Provider FAQs to Help Providers Navigate Change Healthcare Outage

Unicare has provided a Provider Bulletin and has provided a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) resource in the link below.  The Provider Bulletin alerts our UniCare providers to the Change Healthcare outage, and further advises providers to use Availity Essentials to safely submit electronic transactions to UniCare.   The FAQs also refer providers to their Provider Manual which contains additional information regarding alternate options for submitting claims to UniCare other than Availity.  They are encouraging the submission of claims through Availity Essentials; Unicare has been receiving and processing claims through this tool during the cyberattack.

CMS Announces that in addition to Accelerated Payments to Part A providers, Advance Payments will now be available to Part B Providers

HHS and CMS have dubbed this incident: “Change Healthcare/Optum Payment Disruption” (CHOPD).  Part A and Part B providers now have the ability to request accelerated or advanced payments through their MAC.  Payments will be made to providers based on claims paid to the provider between August 1, 2023-October 31, 2023.  If your facility requests accelerated or advanced payments, please alert Melanie Dempsey, VP of Financial Policy, by email at mdempsey@wvha.org as Senator Manchin’s office is working closely with the Hospital Association to accelerate review of applications.
