Trauma-Informed Care is increasingly recognized as an essential component of patient safety, quality improvement, and workforce well-being. This introductory session provides healthcare leaders with a foundation for understanding trauma and its impact on patients, families, and healthcare teams. Participants will explore the prevalence of trauma in healthcare settings, examine how policies and practices may unintentionally contribute to re-traumatization, and learn how trauma-informed principles can improve both patient and staff experiences.

Drawingon the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Trauma Informed Care and the Bridges Out Of Poverty frameworks, this session will introduce practical strategies for building safe, respectful, and supportive environments that promote healing and resilience.

Target Audience: Hospital and healthcare leaders, including executive leadership, nursing leadership, directors, managers, clinical supervisors, quality and patient safety professionals, human resources personnel, patient experience professionals, and other healthcare professionals interested in implementing trauma-informed practices to improve patient outcomes, staff well-being, and organizational culture.
